The niche width in our hallway is 110cm wide.

We then need a two-part door.

For example, on the left a fixed part and on the right a movable sliding door, both parts then 55cm wide.

How deep is the niche? I imagine it would be impractical with an opening only 50cm wide and a fixed part of about 50cm. Depending on what is supposed to be hidden behind it, it will be difficult to access the items behind the fixed part.

We had something similar in the townhouse. We built a stable door ourselves, double-leaf and swinging. It was very practical and looked good. I would do it the same way again. If only a sliding door is an option for you, I would definitely make both sides sliding. You can also build that yourself. You can find the elements at the hardware store. If you don’t feel confident doing it, then hire a carpenter. But it won’t be cheap.
