For outside the windows instead of roller shutters, as is often seen now in new housing developments. For me, it is initially only about darkening.

That sounds like venetian blinds - and they seriously do not darken. Their biggest advantage, on the contrary, is to keep out heat in summer (because no direct sunlight hits the window panes) WITHOUT significantly darkening the room. It does get a bit darker if you change their angle, but it is still far from "dark." You could of course combine them with internal, light-tight pleated blinds or curtains, then you have the nice look and can still darken the room.

Hello,

We have venetian blinds and are happy with them. And I am glad when I can shade the sun without feeling like I’m in a cave inside the house. I also cannot understand the desire for absolute darkness in the house. For me, it is rather a disturbing idea to completely darken my house. With venetian blinds, you also have to consider that they usually retract by themselves in the wind. That is, of course, bad for privacy. However, ours also extend on their own in sunlight and shade the rooms. This is definitely the big advantage of the venetian blinds.

We have raffstore elements. From a certain size, a wind sensor is needed to raise the raffstores before they get damaged. Great for shading in summer.

But: never in bedrooms!

There is wind at night too :-) You can figure out the rest.

P.S. If there is a lot of wind, it makes sense to look into so-called [Z Line Profile]. They withstand even more wind than conventional ones.

Different use cases. What exactly do you want to achieve? - Darkening: roller shutters - Security (storm and burglary): roller shutters - Sun protection: There are different approaches here, especially with/without darkening - Privacy protection: roller shutters unsuitable --> blinds, pleated blinds, venetian blinds, film, etc.

Hasn't it already been proven many times that roller shutters do not provide effective protection against burglaries? In what way do roller shutters protect against storms?! However, I would agree with the rest.
