KNX is not just remote control, tablet, and insert-any-voice-assistant-here. KNX is a luxury that lets the house take things off your hands and control itself without you having to do anything. Treat yourself, or rather treat yourselves. It is an immense plus in living comfort. When you talk about shading, just a small, simple example. The venetian blinds go down because of the sun. But you want to go outside. Simply operate the terrace handle and the venetian blinds go up. You are outside, the blinds stay up and you are not locked out, even though the shading actually wants to go down. You go back inside, close the door, and the blinds return to the exact position as before. You have not pressed a single button. Everything happens by itself. And as said, this is just a very simple example. And this is completely independent of any manufacturer-bound system.

Can someone recommend a good KNX planner in and around Munich?

These are exactly the things I would like to have. Also a simple solution to send the house to "bed" in the evening. Or vacation mode, etc. I believe the areas of application are endless. But if the whole thing tends more towards 100,000 euros, then I’m eventually not willing to pay for this luxury anymore. Of course, I would like to have it... Only so far I’m still struggling to find a reasonable approach to the matter. Although that probably just needs time. The submission of the building plans is scheduled for next week. Then the individual trades follow. Basically, I would only have to provide a reasonable KNX plan to the electrician, who then installs the individual cables where they are needed? I think the architect only partially understands the enthusiasm for this :D

The installation, including network, cameras, and outdoor lighting, cost us just under €70K in total. Finding a good [SA] is obviously very difficult. Our electrician understands KNX but is not an expert. He made that clear from the beginning, so we knew where we stood. We expressed our wishes, he made suggestions, and we adjusted through our own research. The result is a complete KNX house that doesn’t do very much on its own yet but offers all the prerequisites. We do the rest ourselves through the project and the ETS.

Edit: Nobody around us could understand the enthusiasm for it. We didn’t care. It just required more own research. It was worth it.

Oh yes, I forgot the video door station made of stainless steel and 8-inch intercom with all the bells and whistles. And lighting, a mix of KNX universal dimmers and DALI.

One should be aware that KNX in an automated version as described by is a really expensive option. Especially without EL. Not everyone can/wants to delve into it and program themselves, etc.

However, KNX can excellently create the basics and be expanded further and further.
With an amount of 50k+x, you can get quite a long way.
How far you get largely depends on how well and efficiently the planner thinks. Probably the hardest task is finding the right one.

The example I described was parameterized by our "standard electrician" on site in 10 minutes. The tricky part is with the logics. For example, we wanted to switch the light in the bathrooms by PM and have it heavily dimmed in night mode. That also worked. Unfortunately, the tap function of the glass switches to switch the light was overwritten after the presence detector's follow-up time, so the light went off again. The reason is known, but our electrician had no solution ready at first. So we parameterized a compromise for now. We'll try the rest ourselves over time.
