Just now my wife and I went through again what we can reconstruct and it gets (a bit) more precise.

My wife pressed the control button at night because the LED light (which normally always lights up) was off. It didn’t turn on and she went back to bed (for ventilation reasons without closing the door).
Some time later (she was already asleep again) the circus started, which I probably noticed because of the open door (normally she sleeps more vigilantly).
The miracle therefore did not happen nearly as long after the last operation as I had assumed (normally the flush is not needed at night), but at least a few minutes later.

Just now we ran the flush with the toilet lid closed to see if it runs "forever" or shuts off automatically.
After 3 minutes it turned off. That is also stated in the manual, as we discovered afterwards
(I will test that again once it is repaired)

I am a bit more reassured (a little pregnant, after all ), though not yet relaxed – because it can happen again at any time – and if the "flush" function can react incorrectly, why not also the "shut-off" function?

Thank you for your sympathy – that helped me

The flush button on the toilet? Did it work when your wife came out of the toilet? The LED light was also off? Could it be that there was a power outage during the night and therefore the function did not work properly?

The button (and the light) did not work when my wife left the seat. When I arrived there - looking for the cause of the noise - the light was on. It "must" therefore have turned on by itself at some point after my wife left the bathroom (otherwise she would surely have noticed it).

It cannot have been a power outage because other devices would indicate this by blinking or reset time displays.

If I were the designer of a shower toilet, I would - similar to the light in a refrigerator - incorporate a function so that water can only flow when weight is on the toilet seat.

Are the devices on the same phase? Even a stove with a three-phase connection often only requires one phase to keep the display etc. running. That would be sensible.

I opened the user manual of your high-tech toilet just for fun. There are countless functions on different levels, including cleaning functions and descaling function, etc. Who knows what was set while half asleep.

For the cleaning function, that would be counterproductive again.

here "again" a short advertisement: For me, a toilet with rear exit flushing is indispensable. I won't go into detail here now, but cleaning with water (and I have also learned more details about this) is definitely more effective than any other method. It may be more expensive than earlier toilet models, but I also drive an automatic and don’t want to do without power steering. THAT we have such a toilet will not change. That we have to replace the toilet, I no longer believe, but I am still somewhat "displeased" with the manufacturer that such a case can even occur. The cleaning function of the device may of course also work without the [Hintern], only that of the human outlet not. Power outage on only one phase? I'm not an electrician, but I don't think that works "that easily" ... that that was not the cause, I am convinced of (without being able to justify it more precisely)
