How tall are the trees? They are 20 m away from the boundary? How far from the house?

To the south, we have a house 15 m away (which feels like nothing) and in front of it are some quite tall trees. Therefore, we have few windows on that side — only the kitchen and the small dining room window. The three large living room windows/doors face west and still let in quite a lot of light. However, it does get rather dark in autumn and spring. We have solved this with more direct and indirect lighting inside. In autumn, it’s often gray and gloomy outside anyway, so it makes sense to have it nice and bright inside regardless.

The advantage is that it doesn’t get extremely hot here in summer. And we can still enjoy the evening sun. I think it very much depends on the orientation of the house and its placement on the property, but ultimately also on the preferences of the builder.

Now the Storch from the AFD wants to sue the sun anyway because it shines too hot. So you have to make the most of every ray of sunshine as long as the sun is still allowed to shine...

What kind of trees are those in the forest? Deciduous trees don’t have leaves yet, and in summer the sun is higher... It shouldn’t be a problem if it’s not a pure spruce forest or similar. By the way, you can also "go outside" to enjoy the sun. Especially with a forest nearby, it practically cries out for walks. Sunlight in the house is usually overrated anyway. It bothers when watching TV and as soon as a ray of sunshine comes out, almost all the neighbors around here lower their shutters. I also live right by the forest and additionally have an almost completely wooded property (700 sqm but certainly around 30 trees, see picture, but that is 30 years old and now considerably "woodier"). In summer I have lots of shade, which I find very relaxing because it’s barely bearable in the sun. In winter I also get full sun here, since there are only a few coniferous trees. For me, the nearby forest was actually a selection criterion, as I raised baby squirrels until last season.

It is a mixed forest. On the western side, there are predominantly deciduous trees. As mentioned, the forest is slightly elevated. In summer, the property is sunny until about 6 p.m., if I remember correctly. However, we will observe this closely in the coming weeks. The forest to the south is not a problem. The house will be about 30 m away from the western forest. The advantage of the property: it is very quiet and idyllic, with only one direct neighbor in the northwest. To the southeast, there is a footpath that leads to the park-like area to be created (between the forest and the properties) (20 m wide).

How will the house be positioned? Every meter closer to the forest takes you a few minutes ...
