Hello everyone,

I'm jumping in because I am asking myself the question of which material and construction method to use right now.
I am new here in the forum and currently planning a house.
I already have an offer that includes exterior walls made of 36.5 cm Poroton without external insulation, just plaster.
Does that make sense or would you rather advise against it?

Would you have reinforcement incorporated into the exterior plaster with this construction method to prevent possible cracking?
I look forward to your opinions

Best regards, Alex

The exterior plaster will have and must have reinforcement.

Reads in my scope of work as follows: When executing the exterior plaster system, a lime cement plaster with a thickness of 1.5 cm - 2.0 cm is applied to the Poroton masonry. On top of that, the finishing plaster, executed with 2 mm synthetic resin plaster, is applied. Reinforcement is only included in the version with external insulation in the scope of work, which does not apply to us.

With all due respect to your Nordic humor, I can't imagine how a house made of 10cm thick small stones glued together and clad all around with 50cm of Styrofoam, including all the plastic waste inside, should still stand in 1000 years like a medieval castle from times long past.... This myth of the "SOLID houses" reminds me a bit of the Nordic cars made of supposed "Swedish steel"... that was a long time ago.

Then just leave out the Styrofoam junk, build monolithic, brick the whole thing, why shouldn't that last at least somewhat forever?

I just read everything. I noticed that some questions directed at you were not answered. However, these are necessary to give you more precise answers than your questions are.

Is the thread now hijacked by you or do you, Dirk, have two nicknames? A bit confusing.

Even more confusing is a post that either stands on its own or should be answered via search.
Hijacking threads is rude... Your question has little to do with the question "sustainable semi-detached house," which is more about basics.
Start your own thread - it doesn’t hurt if we bite.
