Hello everyone,

we are currently in the process of selecting kitchen appliances (fridge 140cm with freezer compartment; fully integrated dishwasher 60cm; induction cooktop).

My kitchen person offered me Miele. He said price-wise Miele / Siemens / Bosch are similar in the higher price segment for comparable products. I actually always thought that Miele was more expensive...

Is it true that these brands don’t differ much in price when it comes to similar performance?

How did you choose your appliances, where can you best find useful comparison tests?

Regards

Indeed, it is the case that devices in the higher price segment are quite close to each other.

With [Miele devices], you certainly cannot go wrong. However, what you should ask yourselves before purchasing is, what are my personal requirements for the devices.
Cooktop, for example:
- Is cooking done daily?
- For how many people?
- Do I like to use large pots/pans?
- How should zones be switchable?
Oven:
- Is a lot of baking done?
- Do I like to steam?
- Is roasting often prepared in the oven?
- Which functions/programs should it have?
Dishwasher:
- For how many place settings?
- Is a cutlery drawer important?
- How many programs and which ones are important to me?
Refrigeration devices:
- Do I want different fresh-keeping zones, if yes, which ones?
- Does it have to have a freezer compartment, or can cooling and freezing be separate?

This can be continued indefinitely.
On the internet, you will find a wealth of information, and with some manufacturers, devices can be configured according to your own ideas. With this knowledge, you go to the kitchen specialist advisor and have them make you an offer from various manufacturers. If you approach the matter with very precise ideas, it can definitely be financially worthwhile. That means, don’t let everything be talked into you.

Regards, Sigi

There are cheap and expensive options from all brands... Siemens cooktops range from €200 to €1000. Generally, Miele is more expensive than the other providers - if not at the MSRP then often at the offered price. We had the feeling that Miele gives fewer discounts than, for example, Neff / Siemens / Bosch. Tell your kitchen supplier to name specific appliances - then you can compare and check. We found that the internet price was always a little cheaper in the end than the kitchen studio - but not by much when you factor in delivery. For our extractor hood, the internet price even felt higher than the kitchen studio.

Comparison tests are difficult because usually only certain devices are objectively looked at. At the Testomioportal XY, you can unfortunately never be quite sure whether all the tests are real. Amazon is a good starting point, partially also Chefkoch. In case of doubt, you just have to read across, evaluate certain brands, and hope that you only pay more or less for certain features (e.g., soft-close hinges, no-frost, telescopic pull-out, pyrolysis, Hide&Slide). At the end of the day, a reliable advisor in the kitchen studio also helps.

I once heard that Bosch and Siemens are produced on the same line and only different panels are clipped on. Basically, you should ask for an offer and get the individual prices or at least the total price for the appliances and calmly compare online. There has already been an interesting surprise. Often, sales or manufacturer promotions are also advertised.

The BSH Group, today Hausgeräte GmbH, is managed by Bosch. The main brands are Bosch and Siemens. Among others, appliances from Gaggenau, Neff, and Constructa are distributed through BSH.

It can also be worthwhile to choose built-in appliances from different manufacturers. If your studio has various manufacturers in the display, feel free to touch and try them out.

Best regards, Sigi

We have found that devices with, for example, an RRP of €2000 are then discounted differently. This means that the €2000 Miele device was available for €1800 but the BSH for €1000. You can also see this quite clearly with the internet prices. Perhaps one should mentally separate oneself from RRPs right away. In detail, it then turned out to be completely different manufacturers for different devices for us. However, one could not deliver the performance of the other, so we mixed.
