No, you don’t have a disadvantage. IPTV is somewhat delayed. It might matter for hardcore sports fans. Not that the neighbor cheers a second earlier :p I think what means is that linear TV no longer matters to many people. We also hardly watch any linear TV anymore and still have Zattoo. What’s important is sufficient LAN wiring. For TV spots, at least a fully occupied double socket.

Well, delay doesn't bother me. Window closed and that's it :D I can live with that.

Yes, I agree. I think the future is heading towards streaming - thus independent of linear programming.
But as I said, I have no disadvantage with IPTV, no matter how up-to-date my TV usage behavior is. I can do the same with SAT as with IPTV.

So is it mandatory to connect the TV with LAN? Staying on WLAN permanently could certainly be difficult with the connection, right? :D

You mean a double LAN socket, i.e. 2 LAN connections per "TV connection"?

With LAN, you have 1 Gbit (full duplex) at each connection. Wifi currently has 1.733 under optimal conditions but is single.
As soon as more than one device is on the network, this bandwidth is shared....
Therefore, always install enough LAN cables in new buildings.
At every location where a TV is to be placed, I would install 1-2 double sockets. That means 2-4 LAN ports. Two LAN cables or one duplex cable per socket.
Plan access points on the ceiling where the most speed is needed (living room, office, children's room...).
This way you have the faster 5 GHz network at these locations. After a few walls, only the slower 2.4 GHz network gets through.
Plan 1-2 APs per floor. It depends on the building structure, floor plan, distances, and your own requirements.
You supply the APs with power via LAN cable (POE).
There are already some posts about this in the forum.
Now you can do everything "right." Even if it only means laying the cables in the ceiling and adding more APs later.
If you don’t want anything on the ceiling, there is also the option of APs on the wall (InWall Accesspoint). Ideally, there should be as little in front of them as possible because otherwise the radiation is weakened.

Hello,

in our new building we had both installed, sufficient network cables and antenna cables for every living room. We have retrospectively considered the SAT antenna to be very unfavorably installed, namely on the roof. Since we are getting a photovoltaic system in February, the SAT antenna now has to be relocated. So if you decide on a SAT antenna, I would position it in your place so that there is no conflict with a possible photovoltaic system (for example, mounting on the facade or garage).
