I would rather say that a large part of the craft-oriented companies fully agree with my statements.

There are some who no longer do work for teachers, Siemens employees, or Greens. Understandable to me.

Suitable examples of problematic customers can also be found here in abundance.

Yes, Buchsbaum still lives in the spirit of the 80s, back when the mindset in industry was still "Attention! Customer threatens with order!"

That has largely changed, except in the trades, where today the motto is again:
"What does the customer want? There are tiles lying there, right? Should I now also lay them straight and level?"
Or "Where’s the problem? The gas heating is there, solar thermal is just left-green leftist nonsense anyway!"

Due to shortages, this could be afforded for a long time, let’s see how it goes from here.

This is not about an employer complaining that the gas heating was installed at 89.8° vertically instead of 90°. It’s about the fact that essential parts of the contract were not fulfilled and as a result, funding in a considerable amount is at risk.

Buchsbaum, maybe you should attend a training in 2023 on how customers are viewed today. That has changed significantly since your time in the 80s and could explain essential parts of your current problems.
Oh, and the 25 employees with vaccination damages, you would fire them, because they’re pulling your leg ;)

My statements do not refer to the thread starter but are rather general. There are always two sides to the coin. We also deal with arrogant and megalomaniac craftsmen. Offers with astronomical prices are made, or no offers are submitted at all. Delivery dates are hopelessly exceeded or simply botched. Of course, there are both proper customers and reliable craft businesses. There are black sheep everywhere.

That's nonsense. A lawyer has nothing to do with a divorce battle. And there are sites like "ask a lawyer" or something. Deadlines and contract terminations are simply a minefield where a layperson can quickly make costly mistakes.

Between "asking a lawyer what rights and obligations one has, what the general situation is" and "sending the Russian mafia into his private house with the instruction 'take no prisoners'" there are many gradations. One can also start with the first point even if one only wants to take this one point and not necessarily all the following 100.

Thank you for the numerous responses!

In the meantime, my husband has spoken on the phone with the boss, this time no longer friendly. He acted surprised that we still don’t have scaffolding set up. Well, that’s because he was supposed to order the scaffolder - I can’t order him when I don’t even know when the plumber is coming. I had a phone call with the scaffolder over 6 weeks ago, he asked for some key details and said he would arrange the date with the plumber. As you can see, that would have gone completely wrong, we would have had unused scaffolding standing in the driveway for months. We have now given until tomorrow for the announcement of a completion date, otherwise we will withdraw the order. So we’ll have to wait and see until tomorrow.

Since apparently there is no more interest in the order, we consider a lawyer to be excessive and initially useless at the moment. The big can of worms can be opened if there is a dispute. So far, the company is just playing ostrich...

We have not overpaid; exactly what was performed was invoiced and exactly that we have paid. Regarding claims for damages, as I said, we don’t want to start with that; I might start if he came with a lawyer regarding the withdrawal of the order. But I don’t think it will come to that.
