Roller shutters let through a lot of light

Hello everyone,
at our roller shutters, a lot of light comes through at the bottom left and right, so that the entire shutter is illuminated. Extremely annoying, especially in the bedroom and children's room. In the pictures, the shutters are completely closed, the light only comes from the bottom corners.
Someone from the company also took another look (only from the outside, he was not inside) and said that this is how it is supposed to be. I have never had such light incidence in any apartment before, so I find it quite strange. Here is the statement that came later by email:
Depending on the roller type and roller guide construction, more or less light enters here. The roller type and roller guide construction were requested in the specifications from us exactly as we offered and finally installed this construction.

According to RAL guidelines, the roller shutter guide rail must not finish flush with the window sill, there must be at least 8 mm of space, less is not permissible and we also achieve this 8 mm at your place.
---
Of course, it was not stated in our performance contract from the architectural office that it should be just as bright with the roller shutter as without. I also would not understand why such constructions should exist.

My questions now are:
How does it look for you? Do you have such brightness? How do your corners look? What do you say, is that normal?

That looks a bit shoddy.

The side guide rails are definitely too short. They should extend to the windowsill and be finished at the bottom with a plastic end cap. This end cap is missing in your case.

It is called a closure cap for the roller shutter guide rail. It sits flush on the windowsill and then no light can come through. They somehow mismeasured there. Especially since water can also enter when it rains.

Moreover, the roller shutter curtain runs crookedly in the guide rails. This could be because a holder at the top of the shaft is broken. The lower bottom rail must lie light-tight with the rubber on the windowsill. Or your windowsill is not level.

It will be one of the two.

Thank you very much for your assessment. I took some pictures of the guest bathroom from the outside because I can access it properly from there. Sorry for the dirty windowsills, I probably should wipe them down sometime. I also briefly went to the neighbor and looked at it from the outside. He doesn't have a cap at the bottom either, but the strips go down quite a bit further, although not all the way to the windowsill for him either.

As you can clearly see in your pictures, dirt accumulates behind the opening of your guide rail in the corner.

I measured and installed my roller shutters myself. Mine go down to the windowsill with these plastic end pieces.

Otherwise, the bottom sealing rail with the rubber does not seal at all. There should be no gap to the windowsill. Either the end stop is not correct and the roller shutter curtain does not go down completely. But I don't think so because the ventilation slots are closed.

Or something is crooked so that it rests on one side at the bottom and not on the other side. That is not normal.

So, across the entire width, the black rubber (or whatever that is) lies on the windowsill. I think it just looks like there is a gap in the picture. I will attach pictures again. I have looked for the end caps, but I can’t find any that would fit because the rail is so short...

Regarding the window builder's statement: According to the RAL guidelines, the roller shutter guide rail must not be flush with the window sheet; there must be at least 8 mm of space, less is not permitted, and we are also achieving these 8 mm with you.

I measured, for us it is 2 cm. But minimum 8 mm can also be assumed with 2 cm...

Interesting.

Our roller shutters look exactly like those in the TS - meaning:

- Guides DO NOT go all the way down to the windowsill - which would also be extremely complicated, because these have a rebate on the right and left, as can be seen in the TS picture. Good luck with the specific cutting - and I would immediately remove any cover, as it only collects dirt.
- yes, we also have about 8 mm clearance on each side
- no, we do NOT have a rubber lip at the bottom
- yes, it is "dark" with us when the blinds are down - however, the distance between the blind and the window is also significantly smaller.

Okay: it is not equally dark in all rooms and "dark" is always subjective - personally, I see extremely well in the dark and am the first to put on sunglasses outdoors during the day.

Since I cannot assess the lighting settings in relation to the sun’s brightness at this location, I find it difficult to make an evaluation - what you perceive as "maximally disturbing" we would probably not even notice, as we never close the blinds at night either. I can’t sleep then and feel like I’m in a submarine. No way.

My conclusion: it’s fine as it is - state of the art.
