Of course, years ago we didn’t think about it or considered it unimportant that we could open our front door electronically.

Meanwhile, our daughter is 6 and will go to school this year, and she also plays outside more often with her friends. We want to entrust her with a key. But we have to expect that she might lose it ;)

But ideally, I would like to convert to fingerprint or keypad lock.

Cables are only connected to the doorbell, and I’d like to avoid running any, which probably isn’t possible with the wooden door anyway.

In my search, I found the Burg Wächter secure entry.

Basically everything we need, but before I spend 300-400€, I’d rather ask if anyone has an alternative, or experience with it, or a recommendation.

Thanks

I do not want to make a personal statement. But I recommend reading the article that can be found with the two expressions "CCC" and "Fingerabdruck-Biometrie endgültig nur noch Sicherheitsplacebo".

Not true. It depends on the type of fingerprint capture. With live monitoring, etc... Every normal locking system performs worse. You have to invest more here.

Due to the lack of an e-opener on the door, it will have to be a retrofit solution that replaces the lock cylinder, which then becomes "smart." However, you have to make sure that the battery inside does not run out, otherwise Junior will be standing in front of a locked door.

I would advise against number combinations and prefer fingerprint or token instead. With number combinations, the child might just slip up or someone might look over your shoulder when you enter it. Without being able to assess the products, Nuki is mentioned quite often.

Nuki can also be combined with Ekey or there is a module for it.

That's why the numeric keypad is like that, so both can be used. My buddy has problems with fingerprint recognition, often it doesn’t recognize him, etc. I would enroll multiple fingers. thank you very much for the tip, I will check it out right away. Burgwächter has the token. I know about the battery from work, where the airlocks secure chemical storage and they complain in time before the battery is empty, and we have two accesses, so we can always get in. Somehow I have the feeling that tokens are probably the safest solution. Especially in case of loss.
