Renovate free-swinging concrete stonework stairs

In the course of renovation work, I would preferably like to keep an existing staircase. Unfortunately, we do not like the look. Do you have any ideas on how to spruce up such a staircase? A new railing is clear.
Is it possible to coat or paint concrete stone somehow? Looking forward to your ideas!

In the end, it's a matter of taste, what do you have in mind? Painting/coating will, depending on the color, be very prone to getting dirty. What certainly also works is covering it with wood, etc., and from below, you could either clad it or simply "paint" it. My sister had a similar staircase, though a closed version, and they had it covered with wood.

Yes, we had also already considered covering with wood or similar materials. The stair steps bend slightly when walking on them because they are cantilevered. Therefore, the material must be somewhat flexible.

Wood is labor-intensive because the steps are asymmetrical and probably not all the same.
A kind of carpet could be glued on with a manageable amount of effort.
I find the look somewhat unusual but not catastrophic; somehow it also has something to it.
Maybe you will just get used to it?

The light gray steps do not stand out against a white wall. The wall should be painted dark there.
