We are talking about a maximum of 10 bags here. Alternatively, you can pick up the amount for the price of one bag with a trailer at the gravel plant, composting facility, etc. You can also often find something in the classifieds.

But remember, you also have to transport it to the garden. Without a wheelbarrow, bags are certainly the most convenient. Alternatively, I would take the square mortar buckets and carry them in pairs.

If you dig up the entire area, you will no longer have any problems with leveling (as already mentioned). It is indeed a bit more work, but it is worth it visually. And it is really a very manageable area.

I have now removed the plates and prepared the lawn so far. I didn’t want to do the whole area because otherwise I wouldn’t have been able to get to the other spots in the garden. But I will continue there in autumn.

In the end, I got humus from the city nursery, about 150 l, plus 60 l of potting soil and 80 l of lawn soil. That was about right. Before, I raked it. Then I leveled everything and seeded. I hope it’s not sown too densely.

Wanted to give an update. The lawn grew quite quickly after all. The temperatures went up, and the heavy rainfall was also helpful. I am now mowing for the 2nd time. In some spots, I still have holes. Do I need to overseed them, or will they fill in on their own?

That will fill in as you mow more often.

I now have the problem that some spots in the lawn have become thinner again... well, it is summer and there has been little rain. Still, I am surprised that it is only in certain spots. I have also adjusted the mower a few times, but at this time of year that is not really helpful.
