The oldest batteries are probably just under 4 years old. They all work like on the first day. I bought the first device with charger and battery, and then another 2 large 10 Ah batteries. All the rest came free with various promotions. I find the transport boxes practical for this, although I think the Bosch blue L-Boxxes are a little higher quality. I still have one of those from Bosch lying around. Exactly for the mentioned reason no longer in use, but I use the large brush cutter, mostly with a blade. Last week I mowed about 600m² of weeds with a growth height of 1.0-1.5m. It took about 1 hour and after use both 10Ah batteries still showed full 5 bars.

Also from Metabo? That sounds good. I'm currently dealing with similarly tall blades and that kind of stuff. And we want to green the slope with ground cover plants and a few hedges and shrubs. You have to keep all that in shape a bit as well, so a device like that should be used there too.

Yes, from Metabo the FSB 36-18 LTX BL 40. The thing is quite big, like a brush cutter with an engine, but it runs quietly and goes through everything like butter. It has a replaceable attachment with a blade and one with a line. The changeover is a bit awkward, so I practically only use the blade. The speed of the blade/line can be continuously controlled at the handle. I really like the thing. There is currently also a free battery included again.

Had an Einhell cordless lawn mower. It was too weak, in taller grass it gradually slowed down until it came to a standstill. Annoying and the cut pattern was of course not great either. It was replaced by a more expensive Bosch, which does what it’s supposed to do.

A quick question about the blade parts - is there some kind of safety mechanism? So you don’t cut yourself with the blade? Because I’m chronically clumsy and can even give myself a laceration with a cordless screwdriver.

In the direction of the body, there is a protective cover as with any such device. Just like with a device with a line, the feet may still be at risk, so proper shoes are mandatory. I also recommend long pants, as quite a bit of dirt flies around. So overall, there are few differences in this regard between the devices; you definitely don't want to aim a line from Einhell at your sandals... regardless of whether a device has a bit more or less power.

If you want to get through thick weeds, you won't get far with a line; only the knife helps there. The line takes forever on thicker stems and wears out a lot in the process.

There are plenty of videos online; just browse through them.
