I think you’re mistaken there... Even a high-end gaming laptop comes with a 120-150W power supply. And my gaming PC with 2 monitors, a good graphics card, and various gadgets barely goes over 800W at full load. In the entire house (right now nothing is running except the PC) I currently have 480W, subtracting the base load of 250W leaves 230W for the PC and a 5W energy-saving lamp. Even a two-year-old 75" LED TV only uses about 270W.

I believe that standby modes and things like routers, Wi-Fi access points, and multiswitches together make up a significant amount of power consumption.

Exactly for this reason, I could not imagine the consumption of 650 kWh. Our base load last year in May during vacation (fridge on vacation mode), most of the devices really completely turned off (heating was on in case it got cold again, but turned down significantly) was still 5 kWh. Well, the heating is included there, but still, in vacation mode, I calculated a consumption that is three times as high.

Definitely. My experiences are pretty much in line with yours.

Regarding the base load, I still have to wait a bit, but it's definitely around 5 kWh/day.

Standby: huge energy hogs – I have eliminated/turned them off. Immediately saves noticeable electricity. Two systems – just there standby was 75W, that adds up.

The old >600 watt plasma TV was an energy killer. Replaced by a device that requires 35 watts (55 inches).

With all measures so far, we have gone down from about 16 kWh/day to 11.5.

A new fridge or freezer could easily save another approx. 1 kWh/day, but it’s not worth it at the moment.

I only use the dryer in exceptional cases.

Best regards
Thorsten
