I also think one should not underestimate cooking/baking and small things. Other small stuff like "a couple of coffees" also adds up to a considerable consumption over the year. My Senseo really pulls the specified 1500W. At 5 minutes of running time per day, that’s nearly 45kWh per year. The computer is on for a few hours every day, certainly more than 200kWh per year. Wife and 2 daughters (fortunately still small) will probably reach a hairdryer consumption in the range of 100kWh per year later. And so on and so forth. This doesn’t even include lights, washing machine, fridge, and so on yet. I really can’t understand how anyone can come in under 1000kWh per year. Even when there were only two of us, we didn’t manage it (the computer was running even longer back then :-) ).

But that only makes a simple meal, ;)

That is also just calculated roughly, I think keeping warm requires less power. If you cook something for more than 20 minutes at 2kW, it will be very well done.

Then make a nice piece of meat or stew, etc.

If I make stew, I don’t need 3 cooking zones, but only one, and not even 2kW all the time. Especially for a nice piece of meat, you don’t need 20 minutes. A thick roast takes a long time, but for everything "thin" you need less, otherwise it’s well-well-well-well-done. For most good cuts of meat I’m under/around 10 minutes.

Meat without side dishes?
Stew without roasted bacon?
No, no, not my wife's kitchen.
Good food unfortunately also consumes energy.
Ps: luckily only gas on the grill in summer (:
