Questions about Bosch SMV GSP in Ikea Metod kitchen unit

Hello dear forum,

after numerous Google searches and reading here in the forum, I am somewhat smarter on a few points, but when it comes to the dishwasher, there have been some long nights.

Since I will be renovating soon, I want to install a fully integrated BSH dishwasher in my kitchen. Specifically, I am thinking of the Bosch SBV 69 N 70 EU model.

How is it with the front panel here? Some say the Stefan method (what exactly is that) might help, others say the Vaglig mounting rail set and a couple of custom-cut fronts will do as well.
But there is also the option with Behjälplig. Which of these options would be best for it? Because a dishwasher with a Vario hinge is for me A) expensive and B) I don’t quite understand the installation.

Because my fronts will either be Brokhult walnut imitation or VOXTORP walnut imitation. Also nice looking is Haganäs birch veneer but that is the other side. It’s important to me which front fits the dishwasher or with which method I can install it the easiest.

1) Forget BEHJÄLPLIG!

2) The Varioscharnier is integrated into the device and allows for easy installation of the front.

3) If the zeolite drying and A are important to you, but the devices with an additional Varioscharnier are too expensive, then the base of the entire kitchen must be raised to 9 cm, the front must extend 2.5 cm over the dishwasher door, and the 2.5 cm between the dishwasher and the countertop must be filled.

@IKEA-expert: if I understood you correctly, can I then install a normal fully integrated dishwasher without a Vario hinge; and for that I would have to raise the plinth to 90 mm, put 2.5 cm wood under the countertop at the top, and then most likely let the decor hang out underneath?

How is it then with the Vario hinge? Can I keep the plinth at 80 mm and then attach my front there?
I'm really going back and forth thinking about it...

Some say the Stefan method (What actually is that) could help...

With fully integrated BSH appliances (Bosch Siemens Neff), there are 3 types of devices to distinguish: non-XXL, XXL, and XXL with Vario hinge. The easiest installation is with XXL devices with Vario hinge. You simply attach the front to it and that's it. XXL devices without Vario hinge can also be installed using the Stefan method. In this method, the dishwasher is installed so that it does not rest against the countertop as usual but is set deeper (this is adjustable at the feet). Therefore, a gap forms between the top edge of the dishwasher and the bottom edge of the countertop, which should be filled with wood (or whatever). However, you do not see this gap with the dishwasher door closed, because the front is mounted on the dishwasher door higher by the amount of the gap and thus, when the door is closed, the front reaches again up to the bottom edge of the countertop.
The Stefan method therefore has 2 disadvantages:
1.) When the door is open, you see the gap filled with wood (2.5 cm)
2.) When the door is open, you see that the front protrudes 2.5 cm above the dishwasher door
With the door closed, you will notice no difference.
Thus, the Stefan method is also an acceptable installation method, but it requires more tinkering and the dishwasher does not need to have a Vario hinge.
As far as I know, non-XXL devices cannot be installed using the Stefan method; it must be at least an XXL device. IKEA expert please correct me if this is not true.

In general, the front can either be a 60x80 panel, or it could also consist, for example, of 2 pieces of 60x40 or 4 pieces of 60x20 panels, i.e. a split front to continue the look of adjacent cabinets. With split fronts, the Vaglig rails are usually used to connect the individual fronts with each other.
Allegedly, this does not work with a BSH dishwasher with Vario hinge because the Vaglig mounting points are also located where the front is screwed to the Vario hinge. If you still want a split front with a Vario hinge, then the fronts must be connected differently (e.g. flat bars from the hardware store, join panels with wooden dowels, etc.).

There is also the variant with Behjälplig.

Behjälplig was an IKEA mounting kit that was actually supposed to replicate the Vario hinge. There are some reports here in the forum that Behjälplig did not work well and occasionally the hinges broke. IKEA therefore discontinued Behjälplig; it will be hard to find one anywhere anymore.
With Behjälplig, the idea was to install third-party devices without a Vario hinge into the Method kitchen.

In summary, one can say the easiest installation is with devices with Vario hinge. If you want to install a cheaper device without a Vario hinge, then you should also be able to do well with the Stefan method, but it requires a bit more effort and when the dishwasher door is open you see that the device is installed deeper than usual (which should not be a problem).
