Purchase of land with an old barn that is also used by the neighbor

I would first have the project checked regarding the floor area ratio and the setback areas. It may be that you have to maintain the setback areas and whether a second house still fits, with parking spaces and access roads and emergency routes?

Hire a building expert, put money on the table, stabilize the neighbor's barn, done.

What is your wish?
You may demolish and the neighbor can still congratulate on moving into the new houses?

what does "geht" mean? You might have to keep a 5 m distance from the barn. Is that okay? You have made a concrete building inquiry and received a written notice that everything fits? Including parking spaces? Building authorities like to say "yes, fits" and the "BUT" comes when it is concrete.

I don’t understand the “works” (also). If something would work, then the matter with the barn would already be settled. And it would be in such a way that the second house can conform with the barn (change of use, demolition/reconstruction, setback areas to the front new building, floor area ratio). All of this is checked, submitted, and then a “works” is achieved with such and such conditions. A “works, but don’t know how” somehow doesn’t exist in my understanding :cool:

Is tearing down the barn a mandatory prerequisite for your construction project to proceed, or is it more of a "it just bothers us, so we would like to remove it now that we're at it anyway, (and possibly access is easier)"?
