We had a 10-minute power outage today and a district connected to the district heating has no heat anymore. Well, we are not prepared at all. It already starts with the fact that there is no heating, no tealight, etc. Basically, by now we are all so dependent on electricity and luxury that things get difficult quickly. Great, you can grill outside, but then it quickly becomes cramped as well. Most fireplaces in the houses, if there are any, look nice but you can no longer cook on them. And it gets cold. For some faster than for others, but it gets cold and uncomfortable.

Can you explain the wind turbine in more detail?
Is this an option that one can follow?

We went for a walk today. Not much was possible, the east wind bit at our faces. Even a barbecue wouldn’t bring us any joy outside, as the icy cold wind is quite harsh and snow drifts really limit you.
Day 1 well survived! Click & Collect saved my paint supply, so I painted furniture :D

Say, are you serious?
As if everyone here would live alone in the wilderness.
A few flashlights, a gas grill, and if it takes longer, I just set up 1-2 gas radiators.
Beer then just comes out of the fridge onto the terrace for the grill, all good.

And if it really gets serious, you just get in the car and drive somewhere with electricity ^^
I'm not assuming a nationwide outage now, then the machete comes into play :p

P.S. it would have to be a very long time without heating and no residents inside for water pipes to freeze. Weeks, if not months or never, depending on the insulation condition of the house.
