I don't find that so far-fetched at all. It will be included in the requirements for the second house. As a tipster, you are now at the very top of the shelter list!

Emergency water? We have it :D 12 x 1.5 liters. I shower at work then - there’s a chubby guy running there

Me neither at all. Six years ago I woke up and the clock on the oven had reset, I think that was a power outage! :p

A few weeks ago we had

I think a generator would be over the top. But some home storage systems offer the possibility to use them for emergency power as well. Anyone building new today and considering emergency power important should probably lean more in this direction. The generator just sits around for 10 years to then start up for half an hour. You also have to maintain it regularly and replace the fuel, otherwise in an emergency you’ll have diesel rot.

The battery is therefore empty after half a day. In addition, you have to pay attention to the output power (one way or another). But anyone with [Photovoltaik] could consider getting an inverter with emergency/island mode. Battery storage is a possible addition.

We should be able to survive a power outage. There is a stove on each floor that heats everything well. Wood and briquettes are available. Water supplies are of course also there – and in an emergency, we have a well with a hand pump plus water disinfection. Yes, go ahead and laugh at me, but I always keep my Weck jars >1l filled with water. Two backup generators including fuel reserves are also available. Cooking options as well. The only problem will be the mother-in-law who will show up here :D

...yesterday there was a fire at the Nürnberg power plant. Two districts are affected; the district heating was turned down to 10 to 15 degrees. The nights are expected to be cold. Fortunately, only the district heating is affected. But things can go faster than you think.
