In this case, the cover must be stored frost-protected. If only part is drained, the cover is sufficient. What the rollers really don’t like is sunlight without water contact. Definitely choose polycarbonate ;) In the last two cases, it makes sense to cover the pool with an opaque foil. For example, silage foil. This way the water doesn’t turn green and there is no major dirt ingress.
