What speaks for the living area on the ground floor:
- living in old age is easier (in old age, one tries to keep the garden as simple as possible, so I see gardening less as a stair problem and more as daily life from the entrance to the living area)
- I don’t like the idea of having the entrance area in the private area (bedroom and children's rooms with private bathroom)
- I would find it nice to get ‘directly’ from the entrance into the living area – and possibly even have a direct line of sight to the garden (I have a slightly adjusted floor plan idea, but I still have to work out whether it can actually work ...)
What speaks for the living area in the basement:
- direct garden access from the living area (terrace will also be cheaper/simpler) – regardless of whether it is for occasional work, simple cleaning of
(I see the proximity to the child in the garden only partially as an advantage:
- unsupervised access to the garden is also possible in the bungalow
- it depends on the child and family habits – for example, I spent little time in my child's room and rather in the living/dining area, whether playing or doing homework, or other things)
- what I do fully acknowledge are a large part of the tasks mentioned by [USER=12491]@ypg, or the proximity to the garden when it comes to toilet, child is injured/screaming, etc.
I find it difficult to weigh how much comfort loss a terrace on the ground floor with stairs to the garden is compared to direct garden access versus the comfort/discomfort factor of the entrance area being in the private rather than living area, the stairs, and life in old age
