Bamboo does not need as much water as was written here. Definitely much less than normal grass. We have about 10 different varieties of it here in the garden and that for about 15 years. They are watered in the summer maybe once a week, if at all. Since they are evergreen, it is important that they are also watered in winter. Most people forget that and in spring the bamboo is then dried out, not frozen. Our forsythias and dogwoods, for example, need to be watered constantly in summer, the leaves wilt very quickly, while the bamboo Bissetii would only need to be watered once a month, it withstands a lot.
