Can you please provide the name of the engineering office? Because I just found out that my heating engineer has already commissioned the HL calculation and did not make any specifications, so it was done according to DIN... Can anyone here say if an HL calculation according to DIN (and laying plan) can be converted to other parameters? Or maybe I should open my own thread...

What’s so bad about it being done according to DIN? The engineering office I found via Google does it too. Just Google IB Heckmann and heating load calculation...

Interpretation of DIN is certainly not a problem. DIN temperatures are more of an issue. My wife certainly wouldn’t accept 20°C in living rooms.

Oh, yes that's true. But you can change that with the mentioned IB (just specify it in the order questionnaire)

We have 22° in the living area and 23-24° in the bathrooms

One could think that so far I believe 180-190L should be enough for 4 people but possibly with some minor comfort compromises (bathtub available?, do they all shower at the same time or within a short time frame?

Heaters almost always size the tank too large and a tank that is too large then brings other problems (efficiency, hygiene/legionella).

On the topic of hot water storage: We (2 adults, 2 children) have a 300L tank. Showers last a very long time (woman) and we have a large "rain shower head" – quite a lot of water goes through it. The bathtub is also used regularly. The 300L tank seems perfectly sized to me – it should not be smaller.
