What reason does the construction company give, it could be a good reason. Too little information to be able to help further. It is not enough to just describe any way down from the roof; the amount of water and where it is supposed to go must be taken into account. It is unclear, for example, how the roof is pitched, which area needs to be drained and where it drains to (for example sewer, infiltration basin, soakaway trough...), whether existing already built or fixed planned infrastructure (such as sewer connection, infiltration basin, cistern...) should be used, etc.

Then choose a less ugly option or use a cladding or turn necessity into a virtue and build a vertical water feature on the wall (google Kunsthofpassage Dresden Neustadt) or build some kind of pipe bridge that first leads the pipe away from the house and the corner window and then down – for example into a stream or something else. Many things can be solved with some ingenuity, often resulting in something pleasantly special.

And it is the time of the willing helpers, which is used much more efficiently if they are not given the information in too small a scope. I do see a causal connection there – only that I have now unlearned pointing out such essential causal connections to adults and simply quietly continue on my way without helping. But a little annoyance about the attitude of the respective questioners "wash me, but don't make me wet" always remains. If I come coughing to the doctor, he just says I have to uncover my upper body; after all, the stethoscope does not have X-ray vision.
