Marten in the roof insulation, what can I do???

The problem is: martens are very attached to their home. They always come back. The offspring also want to visit their parental home again. That's why they come back.

I understand that already. I just want to use their absence to close the hole in the roof. You don't want to lock the marten in and let it starve. ;)

The free-roaming cats from the neighbor and the marten quarrel from time to time. But so far, neither has succeeded in driving the other away.

Yes, they are tough. I just read again. Natural enemies are actually only birds of prey. So you somehow have to attract a hawk or something like that to build its nest on your property.

I wouldn't know any reason for the marten to run away from its AI accommodation or to stay away from it. It's working out for him - lots of proteins and fats :D

Update: The marten is out of the roof. After it snowed here, I saw when it left. Then I closed the access. Now it's been quiet for over 10 days. No more traces on the roof and no more noises.

The trap has not worked so far. Somehow the marten always makes a big detour around the trap. :mad:

I have now made peace with the marten.

I heard that they keep coming back. They suffocate and fight their way through the barrier to their home again..
