Roof suddenly very leaky, after roofer

I don’t understand you. You did something now without properly analyzing where the error comes from beforehand. Water doesn’t flow uphill, so with correct overlap that is probably not the problem. The overlap can lead to capillary effects and draw a little water, which is why there is a minimum overlap depending on the roof pitch. You could have unscrewed it once after a rainy day and looked underneath to see where it is damp everywhere. During the winter, hardly anyone goes onto the roof and since you probably didn’t fix the problem, it is still leaking in. It is also still unclear to me what was with this roofer from the title.

Yes, we wanted to fix the problem as quickly as possible now. We have to wait and see. We have also painted over all the screws so that nothing can get in there anymore. We don’t want to wait for the next rain to make it wet again and for the house to start molding.

If it’s not fixed now, we will get another roofing company. We wanted to act as quickly as possible somehow because everything downstairs was newly done and should not be destroyed by the rain.

There have already been problems with the damp walls, but it was not as bad as now. This time it was really extreme, so we wanted to act quickly. Since the problem existed, we hired the roofing company that supposedly made the two chimneys waterproof. That was the first assumption. Everything was resealed on the chimneys including new roof tiles that are supposed to direct the water better.

It is still uncertain whether this is the cause of the strong moisture now. But the company said when we complained that they would have to completely redo the roof. We didn’t want that, so first the “planless” DIY approach.

We are now waiting until the next shower and if there is a problem, we will have a professional do it.

But the panic was there because a lot was newly done downstairs, which should not be lost immediately.. and we also did not want to invest directly in a new roof.

And we tried to lift the sheets to also spread the paste underneath, but the sheets seemed to be glued in some places according to our feeling. Nothing could be lifted there.. of course after removing some screws. Maybe some work was already done in some places.

I think if it's not the screws and the slots, it's the chimneys, but after multiple inspections from above you just can't see any possible entry points. We also can't just try to let water flow and look under the sheets.
They are huge and we haven't been directly under the metal roof yet. There is no proper access between the roof and the attic. We don't even know what's there.. it was probably built very flat.
