Although I would also not process wood with wormholes because that is "stored that way for me always," if you can be sure that the insects do not cause further damage, there is nothing against it craft-wise (in my opinion). The main reason why wood with wormholes should not be processed is that the insect should not spread further in the house. Branches, blue stain, or similar wood characteristics have long since established themselves as design elements. For example, if the wood has been heated for a sufficiently long time, no pest lives in it anymore, and only aesthetic or financial criteria remain for the decision.

That would not be my reason, but actually that such wood is rather waste. Knots are not damage to me and belong to the wood. I have not yet encountered blue stain in furniture production either, but I do not know enough about it (it is not my profession, but that of my family members). One could argue similarly that you can still bake a wonderful cake with moth-infested flour... Well then, enjoy your meal!

How is waste defined here? A few wormholes do not impair the functional quality, hardly the optical, even less the tactile. If you can even close them now... the comparison with flour is meaningless. I would rather have a problem with throwing something away so quickly. That doesn't seem sustainable to me.

No, a comparable example would be a cake with holes. Not nice to look at, but still tasty.

What I always like to support is the freedom of forming opinions. The appearance of wormholes also has its charm. Many things are made to look deliberately old because "antiques" are popular. I personally find that a bit "quirky," but it’s important to me that people who find something beautiful also have their place.

I think many professionals who learned something 2-3 generations ago have this thought. When I see some photos used to promote a product or proudly displayed in a living room from one's own wedding, I also wonder where the standard we are entitled to has gone. But then I actually remind myself that times change and pass by me just like everyone else, including you. Nowadays, there are simply different, not worse, values. Like sustainability, for example. Well observed. We simply cannot afford to throw away "living" wood anymore. The smelt is no longer a poor man's food either, and most people are as proud as punch the more cold light in the form of LED spots they can afford in their house. The painter folds his hands over our bare walls, and the hairdresser has also gotten used to teasing hair more instead of setting permanent waves. All this was a no-go in the past! So everyone has to deal with today’s values.
