Do I understand correctly now that you don't want to park there because of the gate? And the gate belongs to the neighbor?

You don't have to worry about that if that is the case. There is plenty of space there, isn't there?

What are the dimensions of the other parking spaces? If yours is significantly smaller and costs the same, then I would try to bring up a reduction. (our parking space is also so small that on the passenger side there is 10 cm to the wall and something longer than an A3 won't fit in. Our landlord lets us have the space for 50 euros a month instead of the usual 120.)

The images are very helpful for thinking along.

Thoughts on this:

[*]Assuming you get used to not driving all the way up to the fence, would you then be obstructing someone? (Exiting over flower beds, standing in the way...)
[*]Could your parking space possibly be officially moved a few meters forward? That would be a "clean" solution.
[*]I would park backwards (despite the exhaust pointing toward the fence) - it’s not a big deal. Your A-Class is no longer a super polluter, and if you don’t let the engine run unnecessarily long, no unacceptable damage occurs.
[*]The planning is indeed not thought through to the end.
[*]A financial compensation does not solve the problem itself.

Some things are just a bit more complicated than ideal. Very often it’s not worth spending too much time on them. That only costs quality of life.

Am I right in understanding that you don’t want to park there because of the gate? And the gate belongs to the neighbor?
Yes

[*]I would (despite the exhaust facing the fence) park in reverse – it’s not a big deal. Your A-Class isn’t some super polluter anymore, and if you don’t let the engine run unnecessarily long, no unacceptable damage arises.

Unfortunately, that doesn’t work, because the fence runs along the entire parking space, so exiting is not possible, forward and over flower beds is how one has to get out.

That could be irrelevant to you if that is the case. There is plenty of space there, right?

Yes, the gate belongs to the neighbor and he has about 10 cm to get past the car, so it’s a joke if I were to allow him to enter the property, which I would do even if I were not legally obliged to.

Was the gate installed there for practical or legal reasons? If it is really going to be used, it would be a fairly simple solution to move the gate a few meters forward outside of your parking space. If you then park 5-15 cm parallel backwards next to the fence, you have very generous space to get in and out without stepping on any flowers.
