I didn’t think the question was as stupid as it apparently came across to you. Sorry! Of course, I know that they are different things and also look completely different. I just heard that [Malervlies] is particularly suitable in new buildings because of settlement cracks, and with [Strukturputz] I wasn’t sure. I like both ...

We have a new building and simply had our plaster painted. Painter's fleece would have meant an additional cost of about 4000,- EUR. I think it looks very neat. However, the surface is somewhat rough. The ceilings also have no fleece.. simply the concrete painted white. The transitions were, of course, properly filled beforehand. Everything looks perfectly smooth! I hope this helps you

Best regards Steffi

That's how we did it too
But in the upper floor we already have some settlement cracks. If I had the money, I would choose this fleece for the upper floor.

We will only have the plaster (the first from the plasterers) sanded and painted. It is smooth enough. We do not want fleece, we have nothing against settlement cracks, they are part of it and maybe I also want to know where something is settling. After about 5 years or so, when repainting, the cracks can then be painted over and that's it.

That was also our thinking. The plaster looked good back then – authentic as plaster, relatively smooth. It was only painted by us. Then settlement cracks appeared. Not really bad. But 5 years is too short a time for a new coat of paint in our opinion. Overall everything else still looks good, except for the cracks, which have now been filled by the mason. Now we have light filler on colored walls.

That's of course annoying. We only have 2 colored walls in the house, so I worry less about it.
