I would actually have to discuss that with my extended family in the end, in our case it’s about childcare, because otherwise I already estimate that we have (wo)men power, meaning endurance, etc.
If it works in my parents’ room I could also imagine it in the utility room etc. Maybe not necessarily in the entrance area where everyone walks through. But I suppose it’s mostly a matter of practice.
By the way, I can also understand the lifting sliding door, all our friends with new builds have one, but I find it rather impractical. Therefore it’s not a deprivation for us at that point, but something many do spend money on.

Then that’s settled :) Thanks for the pointers, I will consider one or another point. I definitely agree with you. We also would have planned our house one meter shorter, but our architect persuaded us that it wouldn’t be a big cost saving and would provide much more living quality. I also understand the arguments (bathrooms, etc. remain the same number, so the extra meter is not worth 2000€ per sqm), but saved money is saved money. Maybe we will reconsider that. Beyond that, I paid attention to cost sensitivity in my “own” house design and it was basically adopted (bathrooms stacked, compact building structure, no bays, no dormers). I had read intensively the book Attraktiv Bauen mit kleinem Budget, in case anyone is interested. I found it quite good.

If you didn't write countless "forum novels," you'd also have more time for the construction site. :D

Ohh, usually that venom only falls from your face half-drunk at half past two in the morning. But you probably like to read my boring stories and they sweeten your dull evening in the musty chamber. I always write them extra long for you, honey! Well, that's been weighing on you since the chat and wasn't allowed out :D ... show it to me properly, then you'll feel better soon. You're the little guy who only braggs but never dares to show his own corner once, right?? :D :D :D

In the past, people also built with their childhood friends in their hometown. Today, one moves away for studies, then realizes that they can't afford anything decent in the university town and moves out. The friends from university are all theoreticians and half of them have long since moved to other cities.

I also have a drop for that. There are second-hand markets for a lot of tools. A vibrating plate, for example, costs 90€/week to rent at the hardware store. But there are equally powerful plates already used for 200-400€, and then you just sell it after construction. Besides saving costs, you also gain time flexibility.

That’s what I call more sustainable and climate-friendly than some ventilation systems :)
