I do wonder how full-time working women even manage to have children...
And how she does family planning without you, who works 60-70 hours, I don't quite get. Old-fashioned as I am about this, I always thought both had to do their part
But if it now works so that one takes care of it alone... modern times. But in this case, I personally would have chosen the old-fashioned way (which I’ve always quite enjoyed so far *g*)

Well, away with that, but these thoughts just popped into my head while reading *lol*

So this means: you will almost entirely finance the house on your own. The 400-500 euros a month can probably be neglected here. And if the FAMILY PLANNING (!!!) already requires so much time investment, then those few hundred euros will likely completely disappear if said planning should ever be successful

Since divorce was mentioned here:

[*]I think you won’t have major problems financing a house (consider loss of earnings carefully if you bear the burden alone; I hope you have good disability insurance or other protections)

[*]If you have community property in marriage, then the situation in case of a divorce doesn’t look very favorable for you, since you will have to hand over half (accrued gains) of the house to your wife, even if she did not contribute financially. Maybe you can find an arrangement here that puts you in a better position in case of emergency. I do believe, those who paid for it should have better cards in such a case.

[*]No credit, better to be able to pay everything... then you will have to wait a bit longer to build/buy the house.

Since I come from the area and wanted to build a new house myself for a long time, I can confirm that Braunschweig and the surrounding area have become expensive. But with 400k to 450k, you should be able to build a new house there including the plot and additional costs. It may not be a villa, but it will be a decent house. You definitely can't manage that in the city, but if you look a little in the villages in the [Speckgürtel], you should be able to find something.

Honey, go to work, I'll take care of having children in the meantime

...alright, alright, I'll stop now, but THAT one had to be said...

OBJECTION Your Honor! I wouldn’t want to work 70 hours a week, including weekends and with that responsibility, even for 5k net. Sure, 5k is not little in absolute terms, but 3200 in a calm 35-hour job can be considered "better earning"! Besides, some people want to buy the security of a long fixed interest rate, especially when the financing takes longer. And if you actually know what will happen in 10 years, then hats off!

Exactly, the question would be in which field Steffen works, we can surely all still learn from him...

I fully understand your objection. But – if it’s the dream job, one gladly accepts the occasional additional burden. The strain mentioned here is, however, also the reason why clinics in Germany regularly look for qualified doctors and quite often "only" find them abroad (hearsay).
