Overwhelmed with a simple kitchen counter - who has an idea?

Overdepth shelf is a good idea.

I would furthermore consider the oven as a 45 cm high appliance with an integrated microwave, if available.

With an extra-deep countertop, you have to be careful with the upper cabinets, right? It’s harder to reach them if you are standing 10cm further forward.

So I found out that this is mainly a problem of body height. With my 1.65 m I can only reach the lowest compartment of an upper cabinet with a normally deep countertop, my husband (1.92 m) has no problem with a deeper countertop and the highest cabinet compartment.

I think you have to take it into account depending on the height of the users as well. 10 cm more is not a problem though, I don’t notice a difference. But then the base cabinets are also on feet/foundation and no longer hang on the wall at the back. They are generally 60 cm deep anyway.

Instead of an oven, you could also use a combination oven, which is often smaller and also has a microwave inside. I just find that more realistic for single young people ( :D ), they are more likely to make themselves a pizza or warm something up in the microwave than to need the giant oven for the turkey.

That's the direction it's going, and when the desire to cook is great, the two next door come into our kitchen.

...or when all the dishes are dirty...

;-)

Personally, if there is space, I would always prefer a separate freezer compartment, or there should be about 2-3 drawers/compartments. Anything else would be too little for me. Although in a vacation apartment one certainly has to consider whether that is necessary.

No extractor hood in a studio apartment? That would probably bother me more.. what speaks against a recirculation hood with an activated carbon filter - lack of space, presumably?

Actually, the only thing speaking against it is that we hardly use our current extractor hood. A quick draft should do.
