When it comes to the best shading, good foliage is unbeatable - and sitting underneath it is a pleasure for everyone who can cope with a plant losing leaves. Pergola with wisteria, grapevine, or similar is great, it just needs something to grow on. Chestnut and plane trees also provide great shade - the latter can be controlled in espalier form.

Hello, we have a classic roofing made of wood and sheet metal measuring 7 x 4.30 meters (south side). The four concrete pillars for it were already installed during the house construction. The light inside is not a problem at all, neither in winter nor especially in summer. However, we have additional windows on the east side. Costs for the roof (without pillars) approx. 8000 EUR. About 800 euros were refunded by the tax office for craftsman services.

I’m also into foliage combined with artificial closed surfaces as a sky substitute

I have chosen and will always choose an option that allows for the highest degree of flexibility, thus no fixed extension.

Is your garden planning already completed, pond planned, etc., or what does your spatial environment look like and how large is your property? I ask because it might be another possibility to use [Sonnensegel/n] and [Sonnenschirm/en] directly at the house and set up a pavilion or similar elsewhere.

Apart from that, I wouldn't appreciate it in a bedroom if there is little or less light incidence. For me, it's wonderful to wake up in the morning, raise the blinds, and have sunlight flood the room from everywhere. Or also, for example, when one is bedridden.

The flooding light also works with a glass roof.. Almost no light is lost, I don't notice any difference compared to without in our case (but also a full south side).

Of course, we want our second terrace to be covered. A nice steel frame and then completely overgrown... We would like grapes but have no desire for all the wasps, we'll see what it will be in the end. Really great, but I wouldn't want that for my main terrace... Too inflexible.
