One could also roof the south side, then the sun protection is redundant anyway.

Beautiful, o_O Since we also plan to install shutters at some point (=at the finished house), may I ask how yours are operated? Electrically/crank/traditional by hand - and how much effort was involved, did you do it yourselves as well?

, yes, it would be really nice if you started a picture thread of your house and garden. I think many people would be happy about that. "Steffi's house and garden picture thread." Everything looks so perfect inside and out. So beautiful.

We had decided to install the shutters only as decorative shutters. It is the north side, and we do not need any shading function here. But we had always wished for a visual enhancement at the entrance area. The other windows on the house do not have shutters. From a shading perspective, we do not need any.. we have been living very well without them for 4 years. The south side has a large covered terrace that provides the necessary shade.

Installing them as decorative shutters was a bit fiddly but still relatively easy. Two rhombus-shaped pieces of wood interlock with each other.

Beautiful! I would also like to have some. May I ask what you paid the carpenter?

That is not a feeling, but a fact, as trees have their own microclimate and in their shade one does not only subjectively feel cooler. A parasol is almost like an internal roller blind: the light is gone, but it still radiates heat downwards.
