And how exactly is the blockchain supposed to help you with that?

If it’s about your data, you need IOT devices that don’t spill everything out, so preferably without cloud and hosted locally.

When it comes to security, you can’t really talk about it in IOT at the moment. Most are operated with completely outdated firmware and usually don’t even offer the possibility for updates.

There are also nowadays ways to protect your data. You don't have to buy and operate all the stuff of unknown origin and with unknown communication paths. Just take what doesn't constantly scream into the ether and that's fine. Secure access to the building from outside or on the go is not contradictory and is also possible without blockchain.

The S in IOT stands for security.

As aptly says, if there is no public interface, everything is safe. A blockchain in the smart home sector is complete nonsense. Have fun implementing the cryptographic functions on an Arduino or ESP.

Regarding the more interesting topics:

What is the business model planned? Is only the software to be sold, or also the hardware? At first glance, a Controllino Mega Pure (10 switching outputs) is more expensive than a KNX actuator with 12 outputs (e.g. from ABB).

He already wrote that this is still being clarified. I also consider that sensible, as long as it is not even known what the final product will actually look like.

Well, I do think there are initial ideas that are somewhat more detailed. At least a direction whether it is more about service (programming), hardware, on-site commissioning, or other things.

It doesn't have to be a fully developed business plan, but if employees in the company are already being planned, then it is no longer a hobby project but something that costs money. An employee working on the Smarthome project does not generate money on other projects.

So we already know quite a bit more, at least we have fairly concrete ideas. But I will not publish everything here immediately. Also: Give us a little more time, I have already published a rough schedule. I will share a lot of information here. But on the side, I still have to work a bit and earn money for the [doch jeden Tag teurer werdende Hütte].
