Position 3-5 maybe. You don’t just do 1 and 2 yourself. I wouldn’t do it and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. If the slope somewhere there collapses and buries someone - bad enough, but if it then turns out that it wasn’t done by a professional company but the client was messing around with a mini-excavator for a few days, no insurance will pay for that, or they will reclaim it.

I can't see any know-it-all. And yes, you give the answer yourself: So you can already count a bonus into the offer that you even found a landscape gardener who makes you an offer. Paving over 100sqm I find quite cheap in your quote, for example.., And with €20,000 for everything, it sounds pretty good*, especially if you think you won't get any alternative offers anyway. * That should be the price that is worth it for you to pay. There's no astronomical price of €30,000 or more!

So you can still build a 1m high retaining wall yourself. Just not with L-shaped stones that weigh 400-500 kilos ;)

Difficult... Not everyone can do it - you really need some craftsmanship.

There are many difficulties like slopes, height differences, etc. - it's not just a matter of quickly placing a stone.

With two left hands and zero knowledge, of course there's no chance of building a wall. You have to inform yourself, of course.

But honestly, where is the decisive problem? Height differences along the way can be taken into account in the foundation, the landscape gardener does it no differently. As an amateur, you just can't move large and heavy parts, so you have to work with smaller stones.

The problem is, if something happens, you could have done everything right, but the insurance will still twist it against you. And then you have to prove that you did everything right 20 years ago. Well.
