No, better not :) we already have enough to deal with our own, our kids have a great interest in cooking. Cooking/eating generally plays a bigger role with us. I also don’t want to exclude that the appearance was important to us, but the kitchen is supposed to and will be used. By the way, the warming drawer is not intended for warming up plates :)

If they destroy the fridge with the skateboard, they really need it. :D SCNR

The fridge is not part of this planning at all but already existing. However, for the sake of the children, we decided against the matte lacquer and opted for Fenix. It was, however, a rather small price difference (about €1,000).

what is your experience with the Fenix surface? Recommendable?

I just wanted to say that with children I wouldn't choose the most sensitive of all surfaces. Matte has the problem that when cleaning you can very quickly create both matte spots and shiny spots with the wrong cloth or cleaning agent. These surfaces are more for people who know how to care for surfaces. Especially if the children like to help out, I would choose a somewhat less sensitive surface than velvet matte in black. (When I was 12, I meant to make my mother happy and really scrubbed the kitchen... with the wrong cleaner. She still holds that against me today when I offer my help. The same thing happened again with the silverware after I had read a great cleaning tip somewhere.o_O)

Our kitchen will not be delivered until October. ;) For me, the main point is simply the sensitivity of the matte surface to grease stains. However, this was not an issue at all with the sample boards in the kitchen studio. Otherwise, we previously had a kitchen with this surface – albeit in high gloss – and it was really indestructible when it came to mechanical impacts. Therefore, it can only be better than the velvet finish if you can live with the different look (edges).

I would even recommend taking the most durable one. ;) ==> Fenix We also decided on gray, which should further reduce the visibility of stains. Our consultants, however, had meanwhile also suggested velvet lacquer due to the color choice. So that is probably the second-best (second most durable) option in the range.
