Probably because most people don't want to ;-) and I can understand that.
It’s certainly possible, but it’s better to initially plan with only one part-time income and then be happy if things end up going better than expected, rather than the other way around. Setting up financing assuming two full earners and then realizing it doesn’t work would definitely be a big problem. Our situation is as follows: I’m at the company five days a week. Normally, I’m home by 6:00 PM, 1-2 times a week it’s only around 8 PM. My wife has fairly flexible working hours, but full-time would mean 40 hours, and 2-3 times per month she has an all-day business trip. Daycare providers are relatively hard to get here. Their care ends at 3 PM, and on Fridays there is no care at all. The 30 hours my wife now works are spread over Monday to Thursday, with two short days when our child is home from 3 PM and two long days when the grandparents step in in the afternoon. Full-time wouldn’t work just because of Friday. My parents live very far away, her parents are both over 70. Of course, it would somehow work, but the joint Friday, which functions as a pure mom day, and the two afternoons (one of which includes kids’ gymnastics) is also very nice for the child, especially since the dad is only around for about an hour in the evening before bedtime and otherwise only on weekends.Where does the idea always come from that you only work part-time once the child is there? If you want to, you can manage both full-time and have no grandparents nearby, it’s not so convenient but it works.

Do you mean home office? There will be the possibility of home office, it is already working at the moment.I would talk to the employer or consider changing jobs if I were you. Or does your job require physical presence (the job itself, not the possibly narrow-minded boss with a negative view of people)?
