Too tight? Because those are exactly our concerns, that it will be too much with children.

We are also building a 140 sqm bungalow. Have one child. If a second comes, the guest/office room will be repurposed. When the children have left the house, we still want to live in the house and not get lost in 200 sqm :)

Yes, I also think 140 sqm is great and still "cleanable" :D I was more concerned whether the financing is feasible with children or if it's too tight and the repayment for the loan amount becomes too much :)

Nonsense. Don’t stress yourself, I don’t see the problem even with children. In case of emergency, the woman can just go back to work at least 50% after 1 year (attention, arrange daycare very early!). She also seems to have a pretty well-paid job; at that young age, as a woman you first have to bring home a base salary of 3k net... With parental allowance and child benefit, you certainly won’t have dramatically less than now. You get the maximum parental allowance, so you can already compensate for a 2k income loss in the first year (including child benefit). What I’m more worried about is the construction costs. Do you already have concrete offers?

Yes, currently it is planned to go back to working part-time after one year. With the first child we don’t see a problem, but rather with the second, since we probably won’t get the maximum parental allowance then anymore. But thanks already for your assessment and your kind words! :)

The construction costs correspond to an offer we have from a prefabricated house provider. I can gladly post that here in the forum as well. We are currently waiting for 2 more offers; once they arrive, we want to decide on a provider. :)

The problem with the second child can be 'solved' by a short interval to the first. If there is only care time between the first and second parental allowance periods, the salary before the first birth is also used for the second child. Of course, not everyone wants that and it doesn’t work for everyone. However, it is efficient not only for parental allowance; it also gets everything else done in one go. It’s also great for the children, they have a great playmate already after just over a year following the birth of the second child. The initially increased effort therefore pays off soon.
