Core insulation is also not completely free from every doubt...

You can read some treatises about this on the internet. General consensus: if done correctly, it is a solid thing. With an ETICS, you can certainly also make enough mistakes in the execution.

So I have exactly the same combination of sand-lime brick+ETICS and have deliberately had EPS installed on my walls. I also don’t understand what the fuss is about. The panels do what they’re supposed to do, namely keep the heat inside... I couldn’t care less about how the wall sounds... no one is constantly standing there tapping on it, so where is the problem? It looks no different than a plastered 36 cm Poroton/sand-lime brick/aerated concrete or whatever else. Whatever you use, whether ETICS or thicker walls, it usually costs about the same and probably pays off after 30-50 years. The indoor climate is the same everywhere, since the rest of the house is built like a plastic bag according to today’s regulations. Unless, of course, you spend real money and build ecologically harmless... but hardly anyone does that anyway... and then the question of ETICS doesn’t even come up.

We have also currently consciously decided on a system with [WDVS]. Every component of the wall does exactly what it is good at, no compromises.

We still have the free choice, but it will very likely be [EPS]. Cheap and fulfills its purpose excellently. I don't see any serious disadvantages. Fire protection is not an issue, indoor climate not an issue (since it will be built airtight anyway), disposal during my lifetime irrelevant (and I strongly assume that it will soon be possible to recycle it properly), ecological aspects... yes, you could bring them up, but please without double standards (flying across the big pond twice a year yourself, driving an SUV in the city, daily meat consumption, but having something against [EPS]... well, okay).

In my opinion, the only real disadvantage is that you cannot easily attach things to the wall from the outside arbitrarily. However, with proper planning, this is no problem.

That has always been possible... the myth of hazardous waste is a figment of the opponents' imagination...

That also works very well, because there are fastening systems for that... or usually there is still a solid wall behind it.

And by the way, a Poroton brick also crumbles relatively quickly if you want to attach something to it.

And even if disposal costs 500 euros/ton.... a single-family house weighs at most 2 tons.
