New construction is looking for a garden planner because we are not creative enough

I have to say, I found most gardening books less helpful. It was just too much pretentious artistry for my taste and more suitable for garden shows than for a private garden. Usually, you want to enjoy it rather than maintain it semi-professionally.

The crucial question now is which direction you want to go.

Find pictures in garden magazines, Instagram, Pinterest, or wherever. Find things that you like and want, and then either combine them yourself or ask how they can be combined on your own property.

oh my goodness, already so much feedback, I didn't expect that. Here is a site plan not oriented north, but south is indicated. And here is a picture of how the garden still looked in autumn in the sunshine.

The "rose bed" on the right in the corner is just a makeshift, because my wife's flowers had to be planted in the ground. That can gladly go somewhere else. Otherwise, above the terrace where the seating set is, we had a pergola awning installed. On the left in the picture you can see a cover in the lawn, underneath is a cistern, so there’s not much room for plants or digging deep there. Here is another picture with the pergola awning.

The house is modern, we like anthracite as a color. The garden should look corresponding as well. Clearly, less is more. We don’t want to put too much effort into garden maintenance, but it should be cozy.

We are considering buying a 2x2m hot tub, but where to put it? It could nicely be combined with a seating area/lounge and a fire bowl. We also have a 4x3m sunshade umbrella, which can be incorporated/embedded there.

We like raised beds, but more like 2 or 3 rows of stones, not too high. I have already thought about placing a raised bed around the left corner of the terrace, where the pergola awning pillar is. Mostly to make it easier for the robotic lawnmower; I currently have to do manual touch-ups around that pillar.

Otherwise, to cover those gray L stones. Possibly put the hot tub in the middle there? The only concern is that we would be even closer to the neighbor, so privacy screen, sound protection?

To the right there is currently a field/flower meadow maintained by the municipality. It would be good to have a hedge or something similar there to create a neat boundary for the property.

In the beds we like those tall-growing grasses.

All in all, it mainly revolves around the hot tub and the fire bowl, as well as some beds/privacy screen. We just don't know where. Maybe in the middle or directly connected to the terrace....

With those keywords, you can easily find suggestions on Pinterest.
I come from a generation where there was no internet – back then we used to get magazines: My Beautiful Garden, Garden Ideas... every month they cover topics related to a typical garden. Otherwise, you can also spend 10€ to buy a garden book. All of that exists.
I wouldn’t lean too far out here on whether you should plant bamboo or a standard tree, because that’s like a piece of furniture – a matter of personal taste.

We have already done a lot of research, including [YouTube]. We find a lot of things great, but just don't know where to place them. Which plants exactly is probably secondary for now, placement is more important.

Just quickly
South, grasses, low maintenance

take a look at prairie gardens. You can also create just one bed of them. They are low maintenance, can tolerate heat and drought, insect-friendly with a high grass content
