Many lack the imagination that the liberal democratic constitutional state can also come to an end and data collected innocuously can then be misused (this has already happened in the past, with very bad consequences). Moreover, Big Data leads to unimaginably(!) more possibilities to merge and analyze data. This, in turn, opens the door wide to abusive use. Life experience tells us that if such possibilities exist, they will sooner or later be used. (Therefore, it would be smartest to stop the data collection.) Also interesting at this point: Social Cooling, just google it. Or "China social score".

I think neither the answer is that simple nor are all people unimaginative. The abuse is certainly known. However, it is possibly accepted reluctantly because the benefit is greater.

I rather think sooner, because we are right in the middle of it.
Sure?

I use Alexa to listen to music and for nothing else. Alexa supposedly only listens when you say Alexa beforehand. In the app, only commands that start with Alexa are listed, and it only executes commands if you say Alexa as the first word. Where do I buy my music? Amazon Where do I stream? Amazon Thus, they do not get any new data from Alexa. Or they find the discussions about whether the teeth are properly brushed interesting. The internet is not anonymous, loyalty cards for collecting points also gather data, and Deutsche Post is one of the largest data dealers.

Maybe so. Still, I prefer not to. In the end, we will be completely dependent on a few big ones in everything. And that without necessity. Just because we, who otherwise secure the house with RC shoot-me-dead windows, let them into the living room and even the bedroom and reveal everything about us. Karsten

But there is also a lack of imagination that the end of the liberal democratic constitutional state could be born out of a societal consensus, the birth of which we are currently witnessing – with, among other things, such "funny little games" as discussed here.

I keep recommending the two books by Yuval Noah Harari, "Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind" and "Homo Deus: A Brief History of Tomorrow", to enrich oneself with a broad perspective and a new point of view.

When I listen to the nonsense of the CSU on the radio this morning, we are as far away from a societal consensus as from here to the next galaxy. However, one can hope that these dinosaurs suddenly become extinct. Probably due to a "smart" satellite strike.
