Since we do not want to impose the tiring walk to our house on the mail and parcel deliverers and want to have as little traffic as possible on the private driveway, we will build some larger box next to the driveway. For the few larger packages per year, someone will just have to ring the bell downstairs or leave them with the neighbor. As far as I am concerned, neighbors are welcome to use the box as well.

The packages are simply left in front of the door or in the garage. However, it is more than secure with us.

a lot comes by parcel service to us. Basically everything that cannot be bought in the village.

: We hardly need anything that would have to be ordered.

Oh yes, I still have most of my "belongings" to give away until the beginning of August. Who knows someone who would be happy about a stamp collection or stuffed animals? Pictures, furniture, consumer electronics, books... Everything in room 41.
Attention: I do not ship - so you don’t need a parcel mailbox.

I don’t think you live quite as far behind the moon as we do.
We have many things here. Supermarket, mini hardware store, baker, butcher, pharmacist, optician, etc.
However, no books, no toys, no clothing, no shoes, etc. For everything, you have to drive at least 30 km. Quelle became big with us country bumpkins.

In the end, we decided to register for these DHL postboxes, which are only 400m away. And for all other couriers, we just leave the packages with the neighbor as usual or I simply pick them up myself at the branch. Leaving parcels in the garage seems too complicated or exhausting because it never works out. But we hardly order anything anymore anyway because there is always hassle with all the couriers here. Especially DHL hardly ever even attempts delivery, instead they just bring everything to the branch after 3 or 4 pm (at closing time – we are apparently at the end of the delivery route, so they don’t have time anymore), so a box at the house wouldn’t make any sense for us either.

Back then I couldn’t find anything that appealed to me visually, price-wise, and practically.

But we also live on the outskirts of a big city, we have everything here and basically don’t need to order almost anything.

You mean the DHL Packstation? Basically, that's not bad, but for example, with Amazon you never know which courier will deliver. Then you can't address it directly to the Packstation. The coded lock on my garage works well for me. DHL has left something there several times already. Today it worked with GLS. The other courier services haven't been tested yet.
