Well, you have to say that the "new" tiles I looked at are simply insanely well made in terms of feel. Of course, I also find real wood even nicer, if only because of the "feeling".... But as I said, partly because of the underfloor heating and partly with kids and all, tiles are more practical.

that's how it is It also has little to do with imitation when I combine the look of one with the advantages of the other. (My opinion)

we moved into our apartment a year ago (in hindsight nonsense because we found our plot of land one month later) and the (then new) parquet already looks terrible today. When our daughter drops her building blocks, you immediately get ugly dents in it.

To what extent the quality of the parquet plays a role here, I of course cannot assess, but wood is simply more susceptible than a tile

It would be interesting to hear the perspective of someone who has parquet flooring and also challenging conditions like large dogs or children

We have heavy dining chairs in the dining area, and when I hear how the children or guests slide them back and forth, I don’t want to imagine how the parquet would look after 8 months! People just don’t take care. Felt pads that always fall off wouldn’t help either. If you choose tiles in living areas, it’s only about durability. Wood look is the measure to make it look more homely. Otherwise, it would look like a basement

But I wouldn’t tile everything. The bedrooms are, of course, not tiled.

I always think the same ..... but a carpenter once said to me, after I expressed my concerns to him: "That's exactly what I want, I want to be able to say in the end, someone lived here"

..... somehow he's not wrong.

We have been living in a rental apartment for 6 years, which has parquet flooring everywhere except in the bathrooms, even in the kitchen. The parquet has been used by 2 adults, 2 (small) children, and 2 cats during that time.

It’s a matter of expectation. Of course, a tile will look more “like new” after several years than parquet. Of course, the parquet has a few scratches here and there because something was dropped. Especially when freshly cleaned, the parquet still looks great today!

Under our chairs and other furniture that gets moved sometimes, there are these “felt things.” We put them on 6 years ago when we moved in and have never replaced them.

I could never imagine a living room or a children’s room with tiles. To me, that is the epitome of discomfort.

In the new house, we will also have parquet everywhere again — only the kitchen we had tiled.
