Looking for wood-look tiles !?!

so we bought hardware store tiles (also wood look with texture). The price was around 16-17€/sqm. Porcelain stoneware. The tiler who installed them later said it was good quality and really a bargain for the price. So you definitely don't have to take expensive tiles.

Hey. So, I also searched for a long time for a nice tile and find that longer tiles (160 or 180 cm) look really nice. You have to keep in mind that with tiles compared to wood, there's always the grout, even if it is narrow. These are mostly retouched away in the high-gloss catalogs. And with larger formats, the whole thing looks a bit more elegant because the image isn't broken up by many grout lines. At least that's what we noticed and it was decisive for choosing a rather long tile. The grout color also makes a big difference.

Take a look at the Provoak Provenza Quercia (feels good and looks very classy). Or Aequa Silva. Just google it, I don’t remember the manufacturer off the top of my head. But definitely see them in person. In photos, you can't tell that this tile has quite strong cross grooves, a slightly used or vintage look or whatever you want to call it. Like an older wooden beam that’s been scratched on. You just have to like that.

They also come in many different formats.

Which I also find very interesting are the Ragno Woodtale Miele or Ragno Woodtale Nocciola. They have quite strong dark “knot grainings.” But I believe they only come up to 120 cm in length.

And in the exhibitions, the tiles are usually just laid and not grouted. This creates a very misleading impression, and afterwards people wonder why it looks different.

I would especially pay attention with wood-look tiles that they don’t have “rounded” edges, but are “calibrated” (I think that’s what it’s called)

Exaggerating a bit, a 30x60 wood-look tile might still look somewhat acceptable in the bathroom, but it has little to do with what I wanted to achieve
