Living room floor plan ideas?

I am reading along diligently here and find you to be a competent team when it comes to floor plan ideas. We have a living room problem: it is too small. We have two options for enlargement, both of which come out roughly the same (according to the builder) in terms of budget. The house is small and cozy and normally has a length of 10m and a width of 8.5m. We have been in this house many times and find it perfect, except for the living room, which is just too cramped next to the dining/kitchen area. Option 1 is an extension where our large sofa (2.60×2.10m) would fit nicely. The other two options each simply extend the house length by one meter to 11m. However, then we are not quite sure where to put the couch. That one meter feels like it makes a big difference in spacing, but the sofa! Would you like to take a look at my amateurish sketch and tell me how you would do it?

Yeah, sometimes you don’t know where to put oversized furniture. You should ask yourself whether it’s right to plan the house around a piece of furniture or if the house simply doesn’t fit your own needs. We in the forum can’t just look at the individual living room, or should we say: wrong house size because the sofa doesn’t fit?! Make the house 10,000 more expensive because it’s bigger. For me, the windows don’t fit in the first place, and a new sofa costs a tenth of an extension...

No no, of course we don't think like that. It's simply fundamentally about the size of the living room. I wrote about a compensation, either through an extension or by lengthening the house. I didn't draw the windows correctly. I'll look for the floor plan of the ground floor... we will mirror it, so to speak.

The floor plan doesn’t blow me away. There are certainly dozens of other standard floor plans that solve this differently / better / just as well. I wouldn’t hold on to the brackets just because it’s heavily furnished somewhere. The show homes are styled to the last detail by 5 interior designers... you can’t really achieve that anyway. I find the extension the most appealing because it at least offers some zoning. But what does that mean for the upper floor?

The house stands there only in an empty state. It is a solid house built by a local contractor. The question was not whether the floor plan is pleasing, but how you would enlarge a living room. We like the floor plan as it is. Simple, open, straightforward.

Difficult. The windows don't fit like this... I also wouldn't know how to place a smaller sofa there. Can you still change the windows?
