Less is more. Focus on the light distribution characteristics of the luminaires. There are wide-angle floodlights, floodlights with diffusers or frosted glass for particularly even light, focused spots like in theaters, some have lens optics and are variable in beam angle. A lighting location is worthless if the wrong luminaire is installed.

Spotlights with diffuser or with frosted glass will not provide even and diffuse light. If at all, then only minimally. Small light source (recessed spotlight) in the room creates high contrast and sharp shadow edges. For diffuse light, you need a larger surface illuminated by a light source (see large softboxes in photography). For example, larger LED panels or indirect lighting against a white wall would result in soft lighting with low contrast.

If you are talking about a single light source with a small diameter, that is probably correct. What I mean: you simply get a different light with a 135° recessed light than with a 60° spotlight. This is about a concept for the house and a proposal in which there are countless installation locations for not further described "spots". By the way, in our bathroom 4 small recessed ceiling lights with diffuser are enough for very uniform light over about 12 sqm.
It is simply worth engaging with light sources: What kind of light do I get with which luminaire where and for what purpose.

Spots for cleaning are actually contradictory. Because this activity, which is more likely intended as a thorough cleaning of the living room, is usually done during the day. And then you don't need the spots.

Otherwise, has really good tips again.

Just read the following post, which generally summarizes very well what you should pay attention to. https://www.hausbau-forum.de/threads/Anzahl-der-nötigen-Spots-halox-und-welche.34197/page-3#post-387843
