do you want to briefly share your assessment of the kitchen lighting again - see kitchen plan above
The image does not necessitate base cabinets under which comfortable task lighting could be installed. The cooktop probably has a downdraft extractor planned - at least there is nothing hanging above it that could already have an integrated light. For working in the kitchen, I like to have a well-lit work surface where I don't cast shadows on myself if possible. With several ceiling lights, a pattern of light and shadow is created. A closer proximity of the light source to the work area has advantages over ceiling lighting.
1.: No shadow issues
2.: Illuminating exactly the required area with ideal light for that purpose.
3.: Little stray light that could disturb the atmosphere in the rest of the room.
I would arrange the ceiling light only geometrically nicely for general function and provide task lighting with pendant or wall-mounted fixtures.
In the end, it is always a question of how it should look and what function the light should fulfill. I myself have made functional compromises and am quite satisfied with them.
