Even though I don't believe that your husband is a journeyman in a crew ;)
This is an absolute prime example that, with the appropriate background, you can build a house with your own labor and make the exterior look beautiful. I'm impressed, especially because your own work tops most of what neighbors around here have had "professionals" do for a lot, lot of money...
Thank you very much for the compliments.. I also wouldn't have thought it would go this way.
I had already read a lot here in the forum, but never dared to present our plans because I probably would have been torn apart already at our financing (fully financed - including furniture - without any equity).
My husband actually is in a crew, but no longer as a journeyman, rather as a foreman in civil and pipeline construction. 35 years of professional experience and (especially his) craftsmanship have indeed helped us a lot.
So experience was somehow there: but you also simply must not underestimate "connections". Excavators, materials, paving stones etc.—you just get access to these things "differently" that way...
However, my husband also had to watch YouTube about 100 times... so not everything came naturally.
Our goal was simply to have the plot prepared "quickly" so that it does not look like a construction site. Now the "carport" is coming (that will probably still take some time), and then we'll get started on the garden. Some planting is already happening in parallel, but we still don't have a real concept for the 1000 sqm :-(
